Large Layout Mode for Status Pages

Last updated: 2026-05-11

The Large layout is an alternative layout for simple status pages that have many component groups. It uses a compact accordion design instead of an expanded list, with an “Affected Systems” summary that makes it easy to see what’s non-operational at a glance.

When to Use the Large Layout

The Large layout is ideal for:

  • Status pages with dozens or hundreds of component groups
  • Teams that want a dense, scannable view of their entire service landscape
  • Pages where most components are operational and you want to surface only the affected ones

If your status page is backed by monitors and you’d like response time graphs and uptime charts, use the Default layout instead. Large layout is available for simple status pages only, meaning pages without monitor-based uptime tracking.

How the Large Layout Works

Accordion Groups

Component groups are rendered as native <details>/<summary> accordions; no JavaScript required. Each group’s header shows the group name and the worst current status of any component inside it.

Groups with affected (non-operational) components auto-expand on page load, so your readers immediately see what’s broken. Fully operational groups start collapsed, keeping the page compact.

Affected Systems Summary

When any component on the page is non-operational, a summary section appears above the group list called “Affected Systems”. It lists every currently affected component with its current status, giving readers a one-glance view of the full impact before they dig into specific groups.

90-Day History Strips

The 90-day status history strips for each component load inside their accordion; they only render when the group is open. This keeps the initial page load fast even for pages with many groups.

No Monitor UI

The Large layout is designed for simple status pages, so it does not include:

  • Response time graphs
  • Latency charts
  • Uptime percentage displays

Those metrics are only available on monitor-backed status pages using the Default layout.

Enabling the Large Layout

  1. Go to Status Pages from the left menu
  2. Click on your simple status page
  3. Open Settings
  4. Go to the Visual tab
  5. Find Layout Mode and select Large - compact accordion (best for many component groups)
  6. Click Save

Your page will immediately reflect the new layout.

The layout choice is separate from branding, so your logo, colors, and theme settings still apply. See Branding Your Status Page.

How Quorum Works with the Large Layout

The Large layout is available for simple status pages that are not backed by monitors. Status on a simple page is derived from incidents, maintenance windows, and manual overrides, not from check results.

If you later connect monitors to your components, consider switching to the Default layout to take advantage of uptime charts and response time data.
