Billing Add-Ons
Last updated: 2026-07-19
Add-ons let you extend your account without upgrading your entire plan. There are two kinds:
- Increment add-ons — a one-time purchase that permanently increases a plan limit (extra monitor slots, extra status pages, and similar quantity bumps).
- Feature Unlock add-ons — a monthly subscription that unlocks one specific feature your current plan doesn’t include (for example, Custom Domain or Private Status Pages), for as long as you keep paying for it.
Where to Find It
In the dashboard, open:
- Billing → Add-Ons
Direct URL: /user/billing/add-ons
What Add-Ons Are Available
The add-ons catalog is updated periodically by our team, so what’s available can change over time. Each add-on card on the page shows:
- The add-on name and what it Grants — either the plan limit it increases (e.g. “Pages +5”) or the feature it unlocks (e.g. “Custom Domain”)
- Its type: One-time (increment) or Monthly (feature unlock)
- A Purchase button that takes you to checkout — or a badge explaining why it isn’t purchasable right now (already included in your plan, already active, or not offered on your plan)
If nothing is listed as available, no add-ons have been configured for purchase at the moment — see Add-Ons vs Plan Upgrades below.
How to Purchase an Add-On
- Go to Billing → Add-Ons
- Find the add-on you want
- Click Purchase
- Complete the checkout (powered by Dodo Payments)
- After payment, you are redirected back to the Add-Ons page with a confirmation
Increment add-ons activate immediately after a successful one-time payment. Feature Unlock add-ons activate once the first subscription payment succeeds, and stay active for as long as the subscription remains active — cancelling it (or a failed renewal) reverts you to whatever your base plan already includes.
If you close the checkout window or a payment link expires before you finish, the attempt isn’t lost — see Resuming an Interrupted Checkout for how to pick it back up from the cart icon in your dashboard navbar.
Active Add-Ons
The page shows a list of add-ons you have already purchased under the Active Add-Ons section. Each active add-on shows:
- What it grants
- Its type and, for Feature Unlock add-ons, its current status (active, past due, cancelled)
- When it was purchased
Cancelling or Keeping a Feature Unlock Add-On
Feature Unlock add-ons can be cancelled yourself, without contacting support:
- Click Cancel on an active add-on — this doesn’t end it immediately. It schedules cancellation for your next renewal date and shows a “Cancels at renewal” badge. The feature stays available until then.
- Changed your mind before renewal? Click Keep add-on to undo the scheduled cancellation.
Increment (one-time) add-ons cannot be cancelled this way — they’re a permanent limit increase, not a recurring subscription.
Getting an Add-On Suggested Automatically
If you hit an “Upgrade Required” screen for a feature that’s also available as a standalone Feature Unlock add-on, you’ll see a “Buy add-on instead” option on that screen — a cheaper way to unlock just that one feature instead of upgrading your whole plan. Clicking it takes you straight to Billing → Add-Ons.
What Happens to Add-Ons When You Upgrade Your Plan
If you upgrade to a plan that already includes a feature you’re separately paying for via a Feature Unlock add-on, that add-on subscription is automatically cancelled for you — you don’t end up paying for the same feature twice. You’ll also get:
- A prorated refund for the unused portion of your current add-on billing cycle
- An in-app notification explaining what happened and how much was refunded
This only applies to the upgrade path — see Add-Ons vs Plan Upgrades below for when an add-on vs. a full upgrade makes more sense in the first place.
Add-Ons vs Plan Upgrades
- Need more of something you already have (more pages, more monitors)? An increment add-on tops that up without a full plan change.
- Need one specific feature that’s only in a higher plan (like Custom Domain or Private Status Pages)? A Feature Unlock add-on gets you just that feature, billed monthly, without upgrading everything else.
- Need several features, or expect to keep growing? A full plan upgrade is usually the better value — see Plans and Billing.
Not every feature has a Feature Unlock add-on available — it depends on what’s been configured. If you need something from a higher plan and don’t see an add-on for it, contact support and we’ll help you find the right option.
