Plans and Billing

Last updated: 2026-05-12

Manage your subscription, review current usage, change plans, update billing details, and download receipts from the Billing & Plan page.

Billing and plans page

What You See on the Billing Page

  1. Go to Billing & Plan in the left menu
  2. Review your current plan, usage, subscription details, and billing history

Depending on your account state, the page can show:

  • your active plan and included features
  • a detailed usage snapshot
  • subscription details like billing cycle, next billing date, and auto-renew
  • billing history with receipt downloads
  • plan-change actions
  • trial, grace-period, payment-failed, or refund banners

Current Plan

The Current Plan card shows:

  • your current plan name
  • plan status
  • included features for that tier
  • current pricing or trial state
  • an Upgrade plan or Change plan button

If your account is on a trial, the billing page also shows trial messaging and remaining days.

If your plan was manually set by support, some subscription details can be hidden because those billing mechanics are managed outside the self-serve flow.

Usage Snapshot

The billing page shows a detailed usage snapshot so you can track how you’re consuming plan resources:

ResourceDescription
Status PagesNumber of status pages you’ve created vs your plan limit
Monitors (busiest page)Monitors on your most active page vs per-page limit
Total MonitorsAll monitors across all pages
SubscribersActive confirmed subscribers across all pages
TeamsTeams you’ve created vs your plan limit (if teams enabled)
Seats per TeamMaximum members allowed per team
Heartbeat MonitorsCron job and scheduled task monitors vs quota
Check IntervalMinimum monitor frequency available on your plan
Check LocationsGeographic monitoring locations included in your tier

Each resource shows a progress bar indicating usage percentage:

  • Green — Under 60% used
  • Yellow — 60-85% used
  • Red — Over 85% used (consider upgrading)

Note: For Teams, the subscription owner doesn’t count toward the seat limit — they have automatic access to all their teams.

Available Plans

Changing Plans

The Change plan flow is handled from the pricing modal on the billing page.

To change plans:

  1. Go to Billing & Plan
  2. Click Upgrade plan or Change plan
  3. Select your new plan and billing cycle
  4. Confirm the change

Upgrades and downgrades

Plan changes take effect immediately.

  • Upgrades apply right away and unlock the new features immediately.
  • Downgrades also apply right away.
  • Prorated billing is used for plan changes during an active billing period.
  • Any unused balance is automatically credited toward future renewals.

If the lower plan has stricter limits, resources over the limit are system-disabled, not deleted. For the full preservation behavior, see What Happens When You Downgrade or Cancel.

Billing Cycles

You can choose between monthly, annual, and in some cases lifetime billing periods.

The current billing period is shown in your subscription details.

Switching monthly vs annual

You can switch between monthly and annual pricing from the same plan-change modal.

When switching billing cycles:

  • the new cycle is charged immediately
  • your billing date resets to the new purchase date
  • any unused balance is applied according to the current billing logic shown on the billing page

If you are considering a permanent one-time purchase instead of recurring billing, see Redeem a lifetime deal.

Subscription Overview

If you have an active subscription, the Subscription overview section shows:

  • subscription status
  • plan key
  • billing cycle
  • auto-renew state
  • current price
  • next billing date
  • current billing period range
  • subscription reference

This section is the best place to verify whether a renewal is active, when the next charge is expected, and which subscription record support may ask you about.

Trial, Grace Period, and Payment Failure States

The billing page can show different banners depending on your account status.

Free trial

If you are on a trial, the page shows:

  • the trial plan you are exploring
  • days remaining
  • a purchase or upgrade button
  • in some cases, a self-serve trial cancel action

Some accounts may also be eligible for a one-time trial extension.

Trial grace period

If a trial ended but the grace period is still active, the page shows how many days remain to upgrade before premium features are lost.

Payment failed / past due

If a payment fails, the page warns you to update your payment method before the downgrade deadline.

This state is important because it is the last self-serve window before your account falls back to Free.

Payment Method Updates

If you have a paid recurring subscription, the billing page can show an Update payment method action.

Use it when:

  • your card expired
  • a payment failed
  • you want to replace the payment method before the next renewal

The action sends you into the secure payment-method update flow tied to your subscription.

If the billing page is showing a payment-failed warning, updating your payment method is the highest-priority action to avoid downgrade.

Billing History and Receipts

The Billing history table shows your past billing transactions.

Each row can include:

  • the date and time
  • the transaction type, such as Charge, Refund, or Renewal
  • the transaction status
  • the billed amount and currency
  • the covered billing period
  • an order or invoice reference
  • a receipt download action when available

The page also includes:

  • Download Receipt buttons for eligible paid transactions
  • Export CSV to download transaction history
  • Load more when additional billing records exist

Some receipts may open as a PDF, while others may open as an HTML receipt page depending on the billing provider response.

Refund Requests

If your account is still inside the refund window, the billing page shows a 15-day refund guarantee active banner with the remaining days.

From there you can submit a refund request.

Important behavior of the refund flow:

  • you submit it against a payment ID
  • you can include a reason
  • the confirmation step warns that the refund request cancels the subscription
  • your account is moved back to the Free plan after the refund is processed
  • refund processing can take several business days

If the refund window already ended, the billing page points you to support for exceptional cases.

Canceling a Subscription

If your subscription is active, the billing page can offer Cancel subscription.

The cancel flow supports two outcomes:

  • Cancel immediately
  • Cancel at period end

Cancel immediately removes access right away and does not refund the remaining period.

Cancel at period end keeps the subscription active until the current billing period finishes, then stops future renewals.

For the full consequences after cancellation or downgrade, see What Happens When You Downgrade or Cancel.

FAQ

Q: Where do I update my card now?
A: Use the Update payment method action from the billing page when it is available for your subscription.

Q: Where do I download receipts?
A: Use the Billing history table and click the download button on eligible successful charges.

Q: Does a refund request affect my subscription?
A: Yes. The refund request flow warns that your subscription will be canceled and the account will move back to Free.

Q: Why do I not see full subscription details?
A: Some support-managed or admin-set plans do not expose the usual self-serve subscription metadata.

Q: Are over-limit resources deleted when I downgrade?
A: No. They are system-disabled and can be restored later depending on your plan.

What’s Next?

  1. Go to Billing & Plan
  2. Click Change Plan
  3. Select a lower tier
  4. Confirm the change

Downgrades also take effect immediately. Any unused balance from your current plan is automatically credited to your subscription and applied toward future renewals — no manual refund needed.

Note: If the lower plan has stricter limits (fewer status pages or monitors), resources beyond those limits will be system-disabled (not deleted). They can be re-enabled if you upgrade again later.

For a complete list of what gets disabled and what stays preserved, see What Happens When You Downgrade or Cancel.

You can choose between billing cycles:

CycleBenefit
MonthlyMore flexibility, cancel anytime
YearlyDiscounted rate (save ~20%)

Switching Billing Cycles

You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time from the Change Plan modal:

  1. Go to Billing & Plan
  2. Click Change Plan
  3. Toggle between Monthly and Annually
  4. On your current plan, click Switch to Monthly or Switch to Annual

When switching billing cycles:

  • The full price of the new cycle is charged immediately
  • Your billing date resets to today
  • Any remaining balance from your previous cycle is not carried over — the new cycle starts fresh

This is useful when you want to lock in annual savings or switch to monthly for more flexibility.

Canceling Your Subscription

To cancel:

  1. Go to Billing & Plan
  2. Click Cancel Subscription
  3. Confirm the cancellation

After canceling:

  • Your plan remains active until the end of the billing period
  • Status pages stay live until expiration
  • You can export all your data (see Data Export)

When the billing period ends, your account is downgraded to Free. See What Happens When You Downgrade or Cancel for exactly which features are disabled and which settings are preserved.
